Piano teachers wanted - Come work with a well established and leading music school in Wellington

We are looking for a new piano teacher to join our vibrant school at Music Box Academy. The current hours are roughly 8-9 hours available a week, depending on applicants availability. Applicants must be able to commit to Monday 3.30-6pm, Tuesday 3.30-7pm or Thursday 3.30-7pm.

We are a group of passionate and professional teachers that teach a wide variety of ages, focused on our students interests to keep lessons engaging and fun. We teach 1 on 1 lessons in a co teaching space. Lessons are very collaborative with our school and we love to offer regular performance opportunities and band classes/community events that we work towards in our lessons.

We also offer students the option to sit there Trinity Exams which our students have mostly completed with distinction.

Teachers must come prepared to lessons with their own resources, planning and style of teaching that can be adaptable to each student - as not all students will be interested in the same style of learning.

What else to expect:

- Lessons are taught in Wadestown Wellington
- You will be teaching students of all ages and levels
- You will need an energetic and engaging personality and you must be well presented and professional.
- Teachers must be responsible for your own transport
- This is a permanent part time position but can build to a full time position with the chance of growth in pay and hours.
- At least a medium level of piano knowledge is needed
- Sight-reading and some musical theory is a must
- Bringing your own teaching materials and print outs for students (we can print onsite if needed)
- Keeping the lessons well planed/structured and finding song choices that challenge students and are of different genres. (Eg: not just pop or classical songs)
- Professional, positive and bubbly attitude
- Starting rate $34ph - opportunity for growth in more hours and pay rise as you progress.
- Either you are studying music at a tertiary level or have completed your bachelors in music / performing arts
- Must be over 18

This Job is fantastic if you are currently a student or have recently finished your degree in Music. Although a degree is not necessary, you must have a strong understanding of musical knowledge, playing experience and know how to communicate that knowledge and experience clearly and in a way someone learning can understand. This role would be a good "on the side gig" for a working musician or graduate, who wants extra income.
