**About the Team**:
The Operational Policy Design team is responsible for the development, maintenance and implementation of Maritime NZ positions, operational policies and high-level processes that support other Maritime NZ groups to deliver and implement regulatory frameworks such as maritime and marine protection rules.

**We are also responsible for**:

- the development and oversight of the operational policy and practice framework;
- the design of operational policy and large practice relating to new rules and regulations plus other significant changes to existing operational policy and practice.

**What you'll do**:
The Advisor Operational Policy Design will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects from developing and updating operational policy through to participating in projects to implement legislation changes.
You'll provide high-quality evidence based operational policy advice on a range of interesting issues about maritime and marine protection matters. You'll establish and maintain relationships across Maritime NZ and with industry to ensure our work is well informed and connected. This is a great opportunity to grow your policy craft in a supportive operational policy team.

**What we're looking for**:

- Experience working within a legislative or regulatory framework;
- Experience in developing effective policy or operational policy;
- Good analytical skills;
- Sound written and oral communication skills;
- Great attention to detail;
- Adaptability and self-motivation;
- Ability to work collaboratively.
