Te tūnga | The role
We are currently looking for a Senior Solution Architect to design the remediation of several legacy systems, while ensuring the enterprise strategies and designs are realised. This is a full-time permanent role working 37.5 hours over Monday to Thursday based in Wellington

**In this role you will be responsible for**:

- designing and delivering the enterprise-level solutions using various technologies and platforms both in cloud (Azure) and on-shore, which will lead to remediation of existing processes and systems to provide key national statistics
- translating business and project requirements into technology designs and blueprints
- defining, designing, and implementing complex data infrastructure solutions for our corporate environments
- producing high-level designs, solution option analysis including costing and licencing guidance where needed
- produce solution architecture documentation, review technical designs, and contribute to the continuous improvement of Stats NZ's technology capabilities

You will work collaboratively with multiple DevOps teams to provide direction to assist them implement our vision. You will also work with the wider community of solution architects and enterprise architects growing the effectiveness of our digital services, documentation, and processes.
Your work will be informed by collated technical and functional requirements, customer needs, enterprise architecture, StatsNZ and governmental policy and strategy, legacy systems, operational dependencies and by organisational governance.
Your initial assignment will be to lead initial scoping engagements for key projects in the legacy system remediation programme. The project teams are based in Christchurch, Wellington, and Auckland. You will translate complicated business needs and technologies into coherent solution designs that can be understood by technical and non-technical audiences.
You will be expected to work through the life cycle of multiple projects, navigating complex, often competing requirements to optimise designs, while managing stakeholder expectations. As projects transition from the design phase to operationalising solutions, you will be expected to continue to collaborate identifying risks and security concerns. This is a high priority programme of work, with project delivering an output which benefits a wider range of stakeholders. There is an expectation that you will assist multiple projects in the programme in parallel.
