About the role
Auckland Central East Youth Services is looking for someone to fill the Youth Worker position based at the Glen Innes Police Station. You will be seconded to Genesis Youth Trust, and work alongside Police Youth Aid with youth at risk and their families in the Auckland Central East area.
You will be in a position of trust and confidence with daily contact with local stakeholders, schools, youth clients, and community groups. The Youth Worker will work closely with families identifying any risks and issues affecting that young person's development and is expected to make the appropriate referrals or course of action.
You will be supported by a multidisciplinary team and will collaborate on the delivery of meaningful intervention plans, helping our young people to visualise and achieve their full potential.
Genesis Youth Trust
Genesis Youth Trust offers a wraparound service for rangatahi referred by NZ Police and Oranga Tamariki, the Ministry for Children. Genesis services include Social Work, Youth Mentoring and Family & Counselling services.

- Ongoing research, innovation and best practice to shape youth programmes and interventions.

We are looking for applicants with the following skills, knowledge and experience:
- Recent experience in working with youth.
- Have a heart for rangatahi and whānau, with an ability to build a professional relationship and rapport through trust and perseverance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and be computer literate.
- The ability to take professional initiative while working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Clear and committed state of mind clear about our outcomes and what we are wanting to achieve
This role is set at Individual Contributor level, this means your key purpose is “to deliver or enable others to deliver Our Business”.
**Certification Requirements**:
- Social work degree desirable but not essential
**Special Requirement**:
- Full NZ Driver’s License
- Able to clear Police vetting
