We need to look forwards to what needs replacing and upgrading in the future. We want someone who can lead the project management and ask the engineering questions of the modellers, operations teams, and asset management team to take the team through these modelling projects and come through with a pragmatic capital programme of what needs work where across the region.

Mō te tūranga | About the role

Using the councils project management framework, we want you to manage works from conception through to completion ensuring we are building sustainable assets. While the assets are simple, the complexity comes from stakeholder management, providing clear concise answers to sometimes difficult conflicting prioritise.
- Project management the design, tendering, construction, of Archimedes screw pumps, stopbanks, generator replacements, and telemetry systems just to name a few.
- Work with iwi, other tertiary authorities, local landowners, and internal stakeholders to deliver sustainable infrastructure options, that meet our environmental aspirations.
- Provide engineering knowledge to our asset management, operations, and community. Working to develop cost effective solutions to H&S, environmental, and performance issues.
- We are dealing with water, erosion, shifting peat and mud soils, assets built in the 1960s, a lack of money, and a need to protect our communities. So, you can’t compromise on human or environmental safety.

Mō te tangata | About you
- We are looking for someone with a pragmatic personality, who likes to do a good job, and is comfortable gently coordinating stakeholders with different areas they are passionate about.
- Ours are more agricultural engineering solutions, so while complex calculations skills aren’t needed, and eye for detail are to ensure these simple assets are constructed well and can operate with mínimal oversite.
- Have worked within the Prince2 or PMI project management frameworks. Noone likes doing project updates, invoice management, and contract management - but they are all parts of the role.

Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience
- We are looking for someone with either a mechanical or civil engineering qualification.
- A minimum of 10 years engineering experience and or 5 years capital project management experience is preferable.

- We are a small team of engineers and contractors, working to deliver capital projects across the Taupo, Hauraki, Coromandel, and Waikato areas. You will work alongside a team diverse in backgrounds and roles including the reliability engineer, maintenance planner, and operational teams.
