Exciting opportunity for a qualified practitioner to join the social work team, and undertake a 0.8 FTE permanent role at Waikato Hospital. Options for a 1.0 FTE permanent role may be considered.
This position will be based with the Critical Care Services, specifically the** Emergency Department (ED), Waikato Hospital**, covering the covering the evening shift (2.30 pm to 11 pm).
**Emergency Department (ED)**
The Emergency Department at Waikato Hospital provides 24/7 emergency care and is the trauma centre for Te Manawa Taki region. The Emergency Department is a dynamic team environment requiring a broad skillset to manage varied and evolving presentations. Social workers are an important part of the multi-disciplinary team, working directly with clients/whānau and closely with other health specialists. Social work services are provided 7 days per week from 07:00 - 23:00. Social workers in this area can be called upon to cover service exigencies/needs of the larger critical care space including ICU/ HDU as well as W18/ AMU.
While this part-time role will be primarily based in the above service areas, however you may be required to work at other sites across the Waikato region.

Our Social Work team covers the Emergency Department, Critical Care, Medicine, Surgery, Women's Health, Paediatrics, Older Persons & Rehabilitation, Renal and Oncology. Although our team works within a range of health services in hospital and community-based settings throughout the Waikato district, they report professionally to a manager within our Allied Health Service.

- Future social work service delivery hours may be extended, therefore the successful applicant will need to be available for rostered on-call weekend work.
