**The Organisation**

The Timaru District Council aims to enable democratic local decision-making and action by, and on behalf of communities, to promote the social, economic, environmental, and cultural well-being of its communities in the present and for the future. With around 400 employees, there are a diverse range of roles from community facing to support and technical specialists.

**The Role / Person**

Here at the Timaru District Council we are always striving for fresh and innovative ways to be _better, smarter and faster _in the delivery of our services.

This is where you come in - as the new Risk and Assurance Officer, reporting to the Risk and Assurance Manager, you will be tasked with providing support to the unit and driving projects around process mapping, business improvement, system implantation and change.

You will also assist in the preparation of reports in relation to strategic and operational risk registers and the formulation and implementation of risk policies and procedures. This role will also be responsible for following up audit recommendations and providing assurance that recommended controls are implemented.

You’ll build strong and collaborative relationships with business units in order to effectively influence, challenge, and guide conversations about the ongoing improvement of Council services and activities with regards to risk.

Ideally, you will bring a qualification in Commerce or Business Administration to the role and experience in managing risk, auditing, business analysis and process mapping.
