Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Mott Macdonald has a new opportunity for an established Senior Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist to be based in Central Wellington. Your focus will be on ANZ projects, but you will also support other offices globally by providing internal support services related to tunnelling, foundations, retaining structures and slopes, and ground model interpretations on civil infrastructure projects.
Where required you will manage investigations, prepare specifications and designs, as well as attend client meetings and manage the client interface on progressively larger and more complex projects. We recognise the importance of career development and will ensure that you will be mentored and supported as you develop with us.
In this varied role, your day-to-day activities will include:

- Working with internal and external clients as a member of the geotechnical team
- Assisting in scoping geotechnical investigations and inspections
- Ground model development and interpretation
- Preparation of reports and specifications
- Site monitoring and reporting
- Advising our internal professionals in our roads, tunnel, aviation, water, power, and structural engineering groups
- You will be a degree qualified Civil Engineer, Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist.
This role suits someone with several years post graduate experience, who is looking to develop alongside a team of high performing geotechnical professionals.
In addition to the above, you will have:
Experience in ground investigations and ground characterisation

Experience in geotechnical design and seismic assessments

Experience in project management, budgets and programme

Appreciation of engineering risk

An understanding of commercial risk

Preparedness to innovate and think differently

Drive to develop your professional skills and willingness to mentor/support others

Have, or are working towards chartership

A clean driver’s licence
