Senior Technician

Te tūnga | The role
We have a permanent full-time opportunity for a Senior Technician to join our Christchurch Forensic Service Centre, based at our Christchurch Science Centre.
You'll undertake day to day general laboratory maintenance duties, including solution and reagent preparation, equipment maintenance and calibration. You will also provide technical assistance to Case Managers in the examination of items or samples, as well as assisting teams at crime scenes. Working with a well-oiled team, you may also support with case receipt, specimen handling, storage, and management.
This is an opportunity to learn about our Forensic Business Group and developing an understanding of our customers needs.

To be successful in this role, you will have a mix of the following:

- A relevant tertiary qualification in science,
- A full NZ Drivers Licence
- Experience or technical knowledge of laboratory work,
- Knowledge of safe laboratory practices and biological and chemical hazards,
- Excellent time management and organisational skills,
- Computer literacy, especially Microsoft Word and Excel,
- Initiative, flexibility, and a willingness to support the wider team.
