**Mō te tīma | About our Fire (and Identity) policy team**

Do you have a burning desire to develop your policy skills and knowledge of the legislative process? Do you want to ignite your curiosity and learn about how our fire and emergency services work? We are looking for **one policy analyst** to join us for some exciting developments in the fire policy space.

Fire policy sits within the Fire and Identity policy team at Te Tari Taiwhenua and we work closely with New Zealand’s most trusted government agency, Fire and Emergency New Zealand. Our aim is to ensure that Fire and Emergency supports and protects our communities through a fit for purpose regulatory regime.

We are working on how to fund Fire and Emergency and have a busy legislative work programme planned for this year, including an amendment bill and changes to regulations. And we need your help

We are a small team that does a variety of work, so if you think you can take the heat, there are plenty of opportunities to lead projects and be part of an awesome crew.

**Mō te tīma | About our Gambling policy team**

In the Gambling policy team, reducing harm is a big part of what we do. One of our current key projects is looking at the approach to online gambling in Aotearoa. We are also working closely with our colleagues at the Ministry of Health to implement the gambling harm strategy that will be in place for the next three years.

Work in gambling policy is diverse and involves a range of both domestic and international stakeholder, ranging from our operational colleagues within the Department, through to other Government agencies, gambling operators, treatment service providers, community groups, and those directly impacted by gambling harm.

We’ve recently had an analyst move into a senior role, so we are searching for **one policy analyst** to join us.

Are you looking to get your policy career out of the starting gate and onto greener pastures? Do you want to develop your regulatory policy skills in a way that will see you in the winner’s circle? We are looking for **one policy analyst** to join us in the exciting steeplechase that is Racing policy.

The law governing New Zealand’s Racing industry has been radically changed over the last few years and our team is now in the process of completing and implementing these reforms. This involves a range of work in developing regulations and working with industry organisations to help imbed the new approach.

We are a small tightknit team with plenty of opportunities to do a variety of work, so if you think you can stay the distance, come and be part of our awesome stable.

**Mō te tīma | About our Community policy team**

In the Community policy team, we’re focused on policy that enables charities and other organisations to keep doing great mahi in Aotearoa. One of our key projects is looking at practical improvements to the Charities Act. We work closely with our operational colleagues, other Government agencies, and stakeholders from the community and voluntary sector.

The team supports both the Community and Voluntary Sector and Internal Affairs portfolios. You will be working in a supportive team and get great opportunities for development.

We are looking for **one policy analyst** to join us, with a level of policy experience ideal.

To succeed in these roles, you will be intellectually curious, you’ll enjoy taking on big problems and working as part of a team to solve them. In this role you’ll get to work closely with a range of stakeholders, you’ll be keen to understand their issues and be a strong communicator. You’ll need to prepare briefing material and other documents, so good written skills are essential.

We’re looking for a mix of both new and established analysts for these positions, with some experience working for or with central or local government. You will be eager to develop general policy skills, as well as regulatory design and community engagement.
