The purpose of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) group is to work in partnership with the organisation to provide the digital technology and communications solutions that support excellence in policing and service delivery and enable Police’s strategic ambitions.

With a primary hub in Wellington, and a presence throughout the country, we deliver new and enhanced solutions directly and through specialist vendor partnerships. We provide expert advice on how technology can be leveraged to support Police’s strategies and turn concepts into reality through collaborative development.

The Product Manager for Networks and Unified Communications will proactively work to identify our customers’ needs to ensure the organisation is well placed for an increasingly connected future. You will develop modernisation strategies, deliver roadmaps and bring an overarching asset strategic management approach to the products in your portfolio.

The Product Manager - Networks and Unified Communications is a member of the wider Networks & Infrastructure Group and will work closely with the Director and other Product Managers across the Group. You will lead your Technical Product Owners to maximise value delivery from their products. This includes ensuring that the prioritisation of work is data-driven, value-based and optimised to meet the needs of the organisation. The scope of this work ranges from large modernisation initiatives to ongoing continuous improvement work.

As Product Manager of a mission critical enterprise scale product set, you will ensure robust, reliable, resilient, secure and operationally efficient outcomes are embedded both at design alongside our architecture team and as part of ongoing continuous improvement activities. You will have strong vendor management skills as part of delivering a highly complex and technical product set at national scale.

In this role you will engage widely and build trust with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure current and emerging requirements are understood, traceable and that future demand is forecast into forward looking product plans.

Key Accountabilities:

- Foster an engaged, high-performing, safe and supportive team culture that is inclusive of key business partners.
- Deliver a long-term product vision and roadmap that aligns with business goals for our Networks and Unified Communications products.
- Collaborate across ICT stakeholders to ensure that strategic planning is aligned with the wider architectural vision, direction and technology landscape.
- Ensure that objectives and key results are well understood and strive to deliver data-driven metrics to measure success.
- Mentor Technical Product Owners to drive agile delivery methods to provide backlog transparency and deliver value faster to the organisation.
- Work closely with teams across the organisation to ensure that all parties are aligned on product vision and goals, nurturing a shared understanding across product teams.
- Be responsible for the day-to-day decision making related to product robustness, reliability, resilience, security and capacity.
