Our clients span across New Zealand, Australia and Asia and we provide the same exceptional service and continuous support for all of them.
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Services Engineer to hit the ground running The purpose of this role is to maximise the uptime, performance, stability and security of managed customer platforms and environments across Umbrellar Cloud Including but not limited those built on top of Azure, Azure Stack and the VMware Managed platform.
This role sits within the Cloud Services team. There is an expectation in this role that you may be required to work outside normal hours, because of planned maintenance and/or escalation of platform issues from junior teams. This position does include an on-call component.
**Responsibilities of the position**:
- Management & administration of customer platforms and servers on the Umbrellar VMware managed compute platform.
- Management & administration of customer environments, platforms and servers on Azure and Azure Stack.
- Communication between teams (Cloud Success, Cloud Product, Business Development, Platform & Infrastructure)
- Escalation points for Cloud Success team and customer tickets/incidents
- Be a centre of knowledge and knowledge article creation for our wider Umbrellar team.
- Ensure all interactions with customers and billable work is booked and recorded against the customer in Salesforce
- Project Manage and document own time, schedule, customer deliverables and customer expectations.
- Support delivery for Microsoft Azure deployments.
- Keep up with Microsoft product announcements and programs relating to Azure, Azure Stack and other relevant products services as they relate to Umbrellar’s cloud offerings.
- Scheduled and emergency after-hours maintenance
- Participation in an on-call roster
**Technical Skill Set**:
- Advanced guest operating system level knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS) and/or Windows (Server 2012 R2+)
- Experience in, and knowledge of web, web hosting and database technologies (Apache, Nginx, IIS, Varnish, Redis, Plesk, cPanel, MySQL, PostgreSQL & MSSQL)
- Technical experience in infrastructure deployment & support across private and public cloud, networking, virtualization, identity, security, storage and availability.
- Strong understanding of the Microsoft Azure platform and core services including Azure Active Directory.
- Experience in working with Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates.
- Knowledge with CI/CD pipelines, kubernetes and docker.
- Strong scripting capability (PowerShell, Azure CLI, bash, python, etc).
- Understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON.
- Familiar with Source Control technologies; Git, GitHub, VSTS etc.
- Experience with monitoring and patch management systems and processes.
- Experience with implementing task/process automation and orchestration.
- Understanding of Configuration Management tooling such as PowerShell Desired State Config (DSC), Ansible, SaltStack
- Unwavering need for documentation.
