Department Overview
The Department of Paediatric Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine manages approximately 11,000 cases per year through 7 operating rooms at Starship Children's Hospital, plus additional operating room sessions at a separate day surgery facility, Greenlane Surgical Unit (GSU). Our team incorporates a dedicated Acute and Chronic Pain service and includes subspecialty teams for Cardiac and Transplantation Anaesthesia.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality anaesthetic care to patients, including:

  • Providing safe and effective anaesthesia for a wide range of surgical procedures
  • Conducting pre-operative assessments and developing anaesthetic plans
  • Working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care
  • Maintaining accurate records and participating in quality improvement initiatives

Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • FANZCA (or equivalent) qualification
  • Post Fellowship training or experience in Paediatric Anaesthesia
  • Ability to provide on-call cover across the full range of Paediatric Anaesthesia
  • Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and vocational registration (or eligibility for such)
