About the Role
We are seeking an experienced registered health professional to lead our Assertive Community Mental Health & Addictions team, based in Hamilton.
The role reports to the operations manager of Community & Speciality services. The team has 13 staff from various disciplines including a Psychologist, Social Workers, Nurses, Psychiatrist, and Kaitakawaenga.
This experienced group works to support those with enduring mental health and addiction issues. The tangata whaiora have complex issues and present different challenges, so you will need to network across the health sector and community to ensure their needs are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Be culturally responsive, especially to the needs of Maori, as there is a high proportion of Maori tangata whaiora in this team.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders in the community, including NGOs and supported accommodation providers.
- Lead by example, being recovery-focused and person-centred.
- Support staff in implementing the strategic direction, vision, and shared values of our mental health and addictions service.
About You
- Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori, or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
- Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches in healthcare settings.
- Must be an experienced health care professional with proven leadership skills.
- Good understanding or intention to build an understanding of Waikato community services beneficial to Tangata Whaiora and their whanau.
- Demonstrated commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi and leading a culturally responsive team for Maori.
- Commitment to implementing strategies to ensure high-quality service delivery.
