The Healthcare Assistant role at Auckland South Corrections Facility (ASCF) involves contributing to the health and wellbeing of inmates by ensuring they receive quality healthcare services in a secure and supportive environment.
As a key member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will assist Registered Nurses with patient care, administer medications, conduct observations, and promote a safe and rehabilitative healthcare setting.
**Required Skills and Qualifications**
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Health Care Assistant NZQA Level 3 qualification
- At least 12 months of experience in an acute or emergency setting
- An understanding of cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity, particularly in relation to Maori health needs
- A strong commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi & Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Resilience, empathy, and a nonjudgmental approach
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment
