About This Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Analyst to join our team who is passionate about social and environmental data. The Principal Analyst role is responsible for researching, designing and implementing innovative statistical, data and analytical solutions to support and inform all stages of the data and statistics life cycle across Stats NZ.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert analysis and insights to support evidence-based decision-making and policy development
  • Develop and implement statistical, data and analytical solutions to meet the needs of our stakeholders
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and relationship management
  • Lift the capability of others through mentoring, guidance and advice

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Highly experienced in quantitative data collection, analysis, and dissemination
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to traverse and find solutions to novel and complex problems
  • Customer-focused with experience in building alignment and alliances between competing interests and agendas
  • Familiarity with Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Ao and Te Reo Maori
