Do you want the opportunity to work with large datasets in an analytically focused role?Join Health New Zealand at a key time of change where you will meaningfully contribute to our kaupapa of creating a more equitable, accessible, cohesive and people-centred health system.About the roleAs a Data Analyst in the Data Services team, you will be responsible for analysing and making available health data, information, and analytics from Health NZ's National Collections and other data sources.
You will gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of national level administrative health data, and support others to use the data appropriately.This role will see you working with clients to identify their needs, preparing data and analysis in response, and developing data visualisation products to communicate your findings across a range of technical and non-technical audiences.About youYou write high quality and re-usable code in R and/or SQL, or another programming language.
You have a passion for understanding data, and producing insightful and accurate data analytics.
You understand and use best practice for programming and coding and enjoy contributing to making code more efficient.You enjoy working with people from a wide range of backgrounds and organisations, can explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences, and can meet client needs with a helpful and positive approach.Skills and experienceA tertiary qualification in a statistical, mathematical, analytical or other relevant field and/or equivalent experience.Technical ability to work in a programming language, for example R, SQL, Python, or others.Previous experience working with data or in an analytically focused role or setting.
Strong analytical skills, including the ability to extract and manipulate data.Ability to use data to generate evidence and insights, including extracting, manipulating, and analysing data.The ability to understand and convey the intricacies, strengths, and limitations of large datasets.Ability to gather requirements from clients and stakeholders, communicate between technical and non-technical people, and extract and analyse data to suit a variety of audiences.Previous experience with health data, particularly National Collections data, is desirable.How to applyTo view the position description and/or apply for the role please click "apply now."
