Job Title: Communication Specialist

The University of Auckland seeks a skilled communication specialist to join its Communications Office. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in enhancing the University's reputation through various communication channels.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced journalist or communications professional to utilize their skills and expertise in capturing and sharing academic, professional, and research achievements across New Zealand.

You will work closely with staff and students to identify and share stories, increasing the University's profile in the news media, among key audiences, and in the community at large.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying and sharing stories across traditional and new media channels.
  • Enhancing the University's reputation through effective communication strategies.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in communications, journalism, public relations, media studies, or a related discipline.
  • Experience as a journalist or communications professional.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • A solid understanding of media operations, including contacts across TV, print, radio, and online.
