Job Description

Role Overview

This role will primarily be based in remote backcountry environments away from home. As a Biosecurity Field Operations Leader, you will lead a team of pest control specialists in the implementation and operation of pest management programmes.

Main Responsibilities
  • Plan, organise, direct and control activities of multiple work groups to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Lead by example to ensure the team delivers on their required targets completing trapping, baiting, surveying and monitoring of pest animals, or controlling pest plants such as gorse, broom and other invasive species.
  • Liaise with land owners and other interested parties to secure access permission for project delivery.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Class 1 Full NZ Drivers Licence.
  • Computer knowledge with an ability to use MS Office (Word, Excel, Teams), mapping software and troubleshoot issues with handheld devices such as a GPS.
  • Previous experience operating a 4 Wheel Driver/Light Utility Vehicle and/or Motorcycle would be highly regarded.
  • Fitness level suitable for extended periods of remote work.
  • Ability to deal and make sound decisions on unexpected events.
  • A strong focus on Health and Safety.
