About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Sustainability Specialist to join our team at the University of Canterbury. The successful candidate will work alongside experts in energy management and decarbonisation, contributing to projects that optimise energy use, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance sustainability across our campus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in developing and implementing energy, carbon, and water use reduction initiatives.
  • Conducting energy audits, data analysis, and benchmarking energy performance across buildings.
  • SUPPORTING behaviour change initiatives in partnership with the Sustainability team.
  • Contributing to policy development and sustainable design strategies for campus buildings.
  • PROMOTING awareness and training programs on energy conservation and sustainability.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (BE Hons or ME) or a relevant field.
  • Good knowledge of energy management, GHG emissions, and sustainability principles.
  • Experience with data analysis tools (Excel, databases, or energy management systems).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess project feasibility.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.
  • Passion for carbon reduction and environmental sustainability.
