Job Summary
The role of an Anaesthetic Technician in Level 8 theatres at Auckland City Hospital is to provide complex yet rewarding patient care on a 24/7 basis across multiple specialties. This includes general surgery, urology, vascular, orthopaedics, trauma, liver and renal transplant, HIPEC peritonectomy, interventional radiology, obstetrics, and neurosurgery.

Responsibilities include providing professional assistance to anaesthetists, working in partnership with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure positive patient outcomes, managing resources and equipment for delivering a 24/7 patient-centred care, sharing knowledge and experience within the team, and actively contributing to organisational goals for eliminating health inequalities for Māori and Pasifika patients.

As a qualified anaesthesia support health professional with a relevant qualification, you will meet the following requirements:
  • Currently hold or be eligible for registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand or current APC with Nursing Council of NZ.
  • Be flexible and resilient.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and teamwork.
  • Be an excellent communicator and have high-quality interactions with the MDT and staff.
  • Be proactive at identifying issues, escalation, and problem-solving.
  • Be passionate, driven, and focused on quality and excellence.
  • Have a proven track record for setting high ethical and professional standards.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and be able to apply the Treaty of Waitangi principles.
