About the Role

As an Animal Education and Control Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining public safety and welfare in Hamilton. You will investigate complaints relating to dog control, provide education to dog owners and take enforcement action when required.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate complaints relating to dog control and provide education to dog owners
  • Take enforcement action when required, providing specialist skills in handling aggressive and dangerous dogs
  • Work alongside other agencies such as the NZ Police and SPCA

Your Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in animal handling and ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and legislative requirements
  • Sound communication, conflict resolution and negotiation skills, physical fitness and emotional intelligence
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, customer service skills and ability to undertake investigations, write reports and complete files to a level for prosecution
