About the Role

The New Zealand Government is seeking a highly skilled Principal Intelligence and Research Officer to join our team. As a key member of the MBIE Intelligence and Country Research Branch, you will play a critical role in advancing your career in Intelligence and contributing to New Zealand's security and nationwide regulatory practice.

As a principal officer, you will be responsible for providing analytical and intelligence support across various workstreams, coordinating MICR activities and MBIE functions with external stakeholders. You will also be expected to set up systems and processes for intelligence, handle sensitive or classified information, and provide intelligence advice to stakeholders utilising multiple sources of information and mitigating areas of uncertainty.

This is a 2-year fixed term full-time position based in Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch. The salary range is $101,911 - $121,196.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide analytical and intelligence support across various workstreams
  • Coordinate MICR activities and MBIE functions with external stakeholders
  • Set up systems and processes for intelligence
  • Handle sensitive or classified information
  • Provide intelligence advice to stakeholders
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 2+ years of experience as an Intelligence Analyst at a senior level within a government agency
  • Established relationships across the NZIC
  • Experience in setting up systems and processes for Intelligence
  • Experience handling sensitive or classified information
  • Comprehensive understanding of New Zealand's Immigration System
  • Demonstrable background in mentoring and coaching others in intelligence practices
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral at all levels
