Civil Construction Quantity Surveyor/ Estimator Required in Hawera, NZ.

We are looking for an experienced detail-oriented and skilled Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to manage the financial aspects of our construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate cost estimations, quantity take-offs, preparing tender submissions, and financial project monitoring.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of civil construction methods and materials, excellent knowledge of contract documentation and tendering processes, and experience with NZS3910 and other relevant construction contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for civil construction projects
  • Conducting thorough quantity take-offs from construction plans and specifications
  • Prepare competitive tender submissions and bid documentation
  • Analyse subcontractor quotes and material supplier proposals
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses and value engineering
  • Monitor project costs against budgets and forecast final costs
  • Prepare monthly progress claims and variations
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, and clients
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market rates and construction methodologies
  • Assist in contract negotiations and procurement strategies

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in civil construction estimating
  • Proficient in industry-standard estimating software
  • Strong understanding of civil construction methods and materials
  • Excellent knowledge of contract documentation and tendering processes
  • Experience with NZS3910 and other relevant construction contracts
