Maori Community Addiction Support Worker

About This Role
We are seeking two dedicated AOD Practitioners to join our team at Turuki Health Care. As an AOD Practitioner, you will be responsible for working directly with whanau to support and empower them on their journey to recovery. You will provide tools, resources, and guidance to help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized support to whanau struggling with addictions and substance use
- Work collaboratively with whanau to develop personalized plans for recovery and growth
- Deliver culturally appropriate interventions and services to meet the unique needs of Maori and Pasifika communities
- Maintain accurate records and reporting in accordance with organizational policies and procedures
Requirements
- Lived or work experience in AOD within Maori and Pasifika communities is essential
- Experience working with Maori and Pasifika communities in health and/or Social Services spaces
- Deep understanding of Te Ao Maori, commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and culturally appropriate practices
- Ability to empower and motivate people to reflect on their lives and make positive decisions for themselves and whanau
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving ability and capacity to work with whanau to develop creative solutions
