Job Description

Affco New Zealand Limited is a leading player in the meat industry, supplying high-quality products to customers worldwide. With a rich history dating back to 1904, we pride ourselves on our expertise and commitment to excellence.

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Coordinator to join our leadership team at our Napier plant. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with site leadership to identify and manage health and safety risks, championing programs and initiatives such as Machinery Safety, Emergency Management, and Hazardous Substances Certification.
  • Implement, maintain, and monitor health and safety standards, procedures, and systems on site, including ACC, AEP, and Claims Management.
  • Manage reporting processes, incident investigations, and ensure effective control measures to prevent incidents from recurring.
  • Provide H&S oversight for contractor and construction activity on site.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Prior experience working in a high-risk environment.
  • Formal qualification in occupational health and safety or related field.
  • Sound knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and its application in the workplace.
  • Proven experience in worker engagement, contractor management, incident management, training, risk management, and audit programs.
  • Strong relationship building, influencing, and problem resolution skills.
