About this role

The Department of Internal Affairs is seeking an experienced Senior Government Advisor to join the team of Hon Tama Potaka, Minister of Conservation, Minister for Māori Crown relations: Te Arawhiti, Minister for Māori Development, Minister for Whanāu Ora and Associate Minister of Housing (Social Housing).

This is a unique opportunity to apply your skills and experience for the benefit of New Zealand.

The successful applicant will provide high-level advice to the Minister and support the development of government policy. The ideal candidate will have an excellent understanding of existing government and public service protocols and processes.

Key responsibilities include providing sound political advice, interpreting complex information, and resolving issues under pressure. The successful applicant will be able to think on their feet and prioritize tasks effectively.

Required qualifications and skills include a relevant tertiary qualification and/or previous experience working in a ministerial office or government department. The ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with stakeholders is also essential.
