About the Role

  • Provide sound political advice to enhance government policy decision-making
  • Support the Minister in delegated areas of responsibility, including responding to Official Information Act requests and Written Questions from the Opposition
  • Contribute ideas for the programme of the House of Representatives and meet with advocacy groups
  • Attend joint Minister's meetings and discuss portfolio-related issues with Ministers' officials
  • Assist the Minister's staff to progress government legislation

Requirements

  • Awareness of and ability to work in te ao Māori environments
  • Understanding of building meaningful and effective Māori Crown relationships under Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • History of achievement in delivering political, portfolio, or government advisory work
  • Strategic mindset and excellent understanding of government and public service protocols and processes
