Educational Coach Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Educational Coach to provide educational support to at-risk student-athletes. As an Educational Coach, you will be responsible for developing and implementing personalized learning plans, monitoring academic progress, and collaborating with the Athletic Academic Counselor and Learning Specialist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement personalized learning plans for each student-athlete to improve their academic skills.
  • Collaborate with the Athletic Academic Counselor and Learning Specialist to monitor student-athletes' academic progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide individualized instruction and support to student-athletes during learning support sessions.
  • Administer and interpret academic testing and screening protocols to identify student-athletes' strengths and weaknesses.
  • Assist student-athletes in navigating the referral process to the Maryland Office of Disability Services and obtaining necessary accommodations.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of objective-based study hall, including supervision of evening and weekend study hall and tutorial services.
  • Attend and participate in Athletics All-Team and GSAC team meetings.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled trainings relevant to specific Learning Specialist and Athletic Academic Counselor responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with FERPA regulations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience working with at-risk student-athlete populations within an academic setting.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Desire to obtain full-time employment in the student-athlete academic support industry.
  • Ability to articulate an understanding of the needs of academically at-risk student-athletes.
  • Preference will be given to individuals who have completed a graduate assistantship position in an Athletic Academic Services department.
