Job Description

The Site Lead will take ownership of their sites through leading internal stakeholders to maintain health & safety, maximise availability, and enable Mercury to be the best electrical generator. This involves working closely with the Central Geo leadership group and members of the wider generation Leadership Team to share ideas to improve site operations and maintenance; recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities.

The Site Lead will lead a team of 8 direct reports and 10 indirect reports. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading, developing and mentoring a collaborative team (both direct reports and indirect) to ensure the wellbeing of all involved on your sites
  • Ensuring adherence to health & safety (particularly in a Major Hazardous Facility) and environmental compliance
  • Leading or contributing to comprehensive asset risk assessments to identify, evaluate, and mitigate potential risks, ensuring the reliability and safety of site operations
  • Operational Management and development of site-based budgeting
  • Overseeing asset management ensuring the units are reliable and available
  • Sponsorship and prioritisation of project works
  • Managing relationships with key stakeholders, including our joint venture partner, Tauhara North Number 2 Trust

Required Skills and Qualifications

We are looking for individuals with the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Engineering or NZCE Electrical or Mechanical (or equivalent)
  • Significant experience in plant operations, process control or maintenance in heavy industry
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and lead a team
  • Proficient in maintenance systems and business practices, including budget control
