We are seeking a skilled Forensic Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary team at the Canterbury Regional Forensic Mental Health Service in New Zealand. As a Forensic Psychiatrist, you will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment in a hospital and outpatient setting, as well as in the wider community, the Court, and Corrections.

The Role

This part-time, permanent role offers a great opportunity to work in a supportive environment with supervision in relation to any new areas of practice, including Court work and Legal Issues. Previous forensic experience is valued but not essential. You will be working alongside five other Forensic Psychiatrists, providing care to a population of approximately 700,000.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment in a hospital and outpatient setting, as well as in the wider community, the Court, and Corrections.
  • Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans to meet the unique needs of patients.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. This is a great opportunity to consider a career in Forensic Psychiatry in a supportive environment with supervision in relation to any new areas of practice.

Estimated Salary: NZD $250,000 - $350,000 per annum
