The New Zealand Government is seeking a Strategic Human Resources Consultant to join the Ministry of Education. As a key member of the Corporate group, you will play a vital role in delivering essential statutory and corporate functions.

About the Role

You will provide targeted and influential advice to stakeholders across the ministry, utilizing your in-depth knowledge of all areas of HR and your understanding of the business. This includes coaching and mentoring junior members of the team through more complex advice provision, enabling the team to grow and for issues to be proactively and effectively resolved.

This role requires an established senior HR generalist operating at Principal level, with significant experience operating as a business partner or similar. You will bring:

  • Proven experience building effective relationships with stakeholders, including at senior leadership level, with the ability to work well with union partners as required.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment legislation, with proven experience managing ER cases, including those of a more complex nature.
  • Experience in leading and/or directing work of others to achieve results is ideal but not essential.
About the Team

The Employee Services team is responsible for providing first line Human Resources advice and support, administering Ministry payroll processes, general and complex advice to people leaders, and specialist employment relations advice.
