As a Senior Public Affairs Specialist with the New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), you will play a key role in driving the strategic communications objectives of the Regional Development and Commercial Services (RDCS) business group.

In this role, you will work closely with the business group responsible for delivering significant regional investments and commercial expertise for the wider public service. This position requires experience leading strategic communications functions, working with minister's offices, and providing proactive engagement and communications planning.

The successful candidate will be a senior communications professional with a strong track record of success in leading high-performing teams and building strong relationships with key stakeholders. They will have a deep understanding of the media landscape, experience engaging with media, and knowledge of machinery of government and government processes. They will be able to provide expert advice on communications strategy and tactics to the RDCS Group.

The RDCS Group is a critical part of MBIE's efforts to create a resilient and high-performing economy. The group works closely with the business group responsible for delivering significant regional investments and commercial expertise for the wider public service. This position requires collaboration with other teams across MBIE to ensure consistency and coherence in communications outputs.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal communications skills, be able to build strong working relationships with people at all levels, and have a proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams. They will also have a sound understanding of the media landscape, experience engaging with media, and knowledge of machinery of government and government processes.
