Job Overview

As a key member of our team, you will oversee the planning, scheduling, and coordination of freight operations to ensure efficient routing and movement of customers' shipments. This role involves leading a team of professionals who handle various aspects of logistics, from production and service records to personnel performance evaluation and development.

Responsibilities

  • Compile and analyze production and service records to measure conformance to standards.
  • Inspect and evaluate performance of team members, implementing changes in work practices to improve overall Service Center operations.
  • Review logs and reports with team members to identify scheduling, production, and administrative support requirements.
  • Coordinate appointment freight deliveries and assist with billing, rating, manifesting, and analysis of freight weight and size.
  • Maintain effective communication with external and internal customers.
  • Assist in training, development, and evaluation of team members' performance and recommend or initiate documentation.
  • In collaboration with the Service Center Manager, recruit, qualify, interview, hire, train, and develop Service Center personnel.
  • Evaluate and maintain the security and cleanliness of Service Center premises.
  • Conduct investigations into accidents, job-related injuries, and employee discrepancies, reporting findings and initiating corrective actions as necessary.
  • Familiarize yourself with and apply company safety practices, including DOT, EPA, ICC, and OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Facilitate information meetings with Service Center team members.
  • Execute special assignments as directed by management.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the LTL/Transportation Industry.
  • Prior experience managing Drivers and Dockworkers.
  • A thorough understanding of the surrounding geographical area to the Service Center.
