Key Role Responsibilities:
As a Building Inspector with Auckland Council, your key responsibilities will include:
  1. Conducting building inspections across Auckland South to ensure compliance with all relevant legislative and safety requirements.
  2. Providing accurate and timely advice to customers on building code and Council processes, helping them understand and meet their requirements.
  3. Maintaining accurate, robust records of inspections and applying sound reasons for decisions.

Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • A relevant qualification in Building Control Surveying or an equivalent professional qualification (IANZ accepted).
  • At least 5 years of cumulative experience in a building-related regulatory environment or similar Building Inspector roles.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Building Act, Building Code, and technical & structural integrity aspects of building design and construction standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and a proven ability to interact with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong customer service focus with a solution-oriented approach, while upholding high ethical standards during inspections and enforcement activities.
