Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Child Health Specialist to join our team in Taupo. As a key member of our Extended Care team, you will play a vital role in addressing ongoing inequities in health and well-being for children and their families.

About the Role

This position is fixed term until 2027 and involves providing an outreach immunisation service to children and their families in our community. You will work holistically with whanau, focusing on immunisation while also providing a comprehensive child and whanau health service.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide outreach immunisation services to children and their families
  • Work collaboratively with Primary Care and Te Whatu Ora teams to provide quality evidence-based nursing care
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with healthcare teams, iwi, Maori providers, and other community partners
  • Clinical knowledge of child health nursing management and care
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage a caseload

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience post registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Current annual practicing certificate and authorised vaccinator
  • Registered Nurse Prescriber in Community Health (preferred)
  • Current full driver's license
  • Experience working with family community groups, organisations and/or consumer groups; facilitating client and family education
