The New Zealand Government is seeking a skilled economist to join its team as an Economic Modelling Specialist. This exciting opportunity involves working on the development and growth of the Treasury's Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) modelling capability, with a primary focus on climate change.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the CGE work programme, including running the model and providing technical guidance to develop others' capabilities in CGE modelling. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the growth and leveraging of organisational capability over time.

Key responsibilities include mentoring other staff in CGE modelling, focused upskilling of new modellers, and providing technical assistance and guidance to more junior staff. Familiarity with CGE models, programming or modelling languages, and proficiency in GAMS are highly desirable.

We value strong team players who can build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, prioritise work in complex and dynamic environments, and take initiative to drive results. A passion for economic policy, finance, and analysis is essential, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills to present empirical analysis and modelling to both technical and lay audiences.
