About the Role
This leadership position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of the business. As an integral part of the leadership team, your role will be focused on ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the driving team, while also managing fleet operations and commercial partnerships.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of drivers and support personnel, ensuring their performance, training, safety, and compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Develop and implement strategies to continuously optimise fleet performance and resource utilisation, including commercial partnerships with external freight operators.
  • Collaborate across the wider business functions to streamline processes and ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Develop and manage budgets for fleet operations; lead the full asset lifecycle process.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement in fleet operations.
  • Create effective and sustainable relationships with third party service providers and key governing bodies including NZTA Waka Kotahi and MPI.

About You
To succeed in this role, you will need:
  • A tertiary qualification in transport management, business administration or with equivalent experience. A Class 5 licence (truck and trailer) and F endorsement preferred.
  • Proven fleet operations management, with a strong understanding of asset management principles and practices.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse workforce.
  • Sound knowledge of transportation regulations, safety protocols, and compliance requirements.
  • Commercially astute with the ability to explore business opportunities that will compliment and grow the organisation.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • A proactive and results-driven mindset, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
