About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Academic Leadership professional to join our team as a Director of Studies at EF Education First Gruppe. As a key member of our Academic Department, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and management to ensure the success of our academic programs.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management: Provide overall leadership and management of the Academic Department, implementing our current curriculum while managing changes and improvements to our academic programs.
  • Teaching and Learning: Lead by example, being passionate about teaching and ready to teach as and when required.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work in collaboration with Regional Academic management to implement academic programs, oversee logistical processes and operations, and maintain digital records.
  • Academic Planning and Development: Set the direction of the Academic Department, responsible for academic planning and objective setting, ensuring those objectives are met, and supporting staff in meeting their own objectives.
  • Student Satisfaction: Meet the needs and desires of students by providing outstanding customer service, problem-solving issues that lead to higher student satisfaction.
  • Content Development: Work with the Academic team to develop new academic content for specialized classes and programs.
  • Professional Development: Lead professional development sessions for the teacher team and develop team members into a future pipeline of management.
  • Scheduling and Logistics: Timetable students, teachers, courses, and classrooms to meet the needs and expectations of the school, students, and achieve course objectives.
  • Communication and Correspondence: Correspond with EF Sales Offices in over 50 countries globally.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure the Academic team is compliant with all aspects of school accreditation and EF policies and procedures.
  • Budgeting and Finance: Manage the academic budget for training and materials.
  • School Goals and Targets: Work with the School Director in achieving school goals, targets for KPIs, and student satisfaction rates.
  • Quality Assurance: Responsible for quality assurance of all academic matters, including recruitment, development, evaluation of effectiveness of curriculum on learner outcomes, and overall student satisfaction.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Master's degree in English, Linguistics, Education or related field, or DELTA/Dip-TESOL certified.
  • Experience teaching English as a foreign language to international students is essential.
  • Academic management experience preferred.
  • 5 years' experience teaching English at an international language school.
  • Attention to detail, organized & thorough, and able to work under pressure to deadlines.
  • Highly motivated, energetic, positive.
  • A flexible approach to work & hours of work undertaken is essential.
  • Friendly & approachable manner is key, as well as being sensitive to cross-cultural mindsets to meet the needs of international students.
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • The right to work in New Zealand is required.
