About the Role

Te Papa is recruiting for a Strategic Advisor Iwi Relationships to support the development and strengthening of relationships with iwi and Māori organisations. The successful candidate will work as part of the Ngā Manu Atarau directorate, leading and driving the implementation of te reo me ngā tikanga, te ao Māori, and Te Papa's ability to meet its Tiriti o Waitangi obligations.

The Kaitohutohu Rautaki-ā-Iwi Strategic Advisor Iwi Relationships will act as an advocate for iwi within Te Papa, and an advocate for Te Papa with iwi, while exemplifying manaakitanga, and seeking opportunities to enhance engagement and interactions between Te Papa and Māori.

The Ngā Manu Atarau directorate is dedicated to the vision of Te Papa as he whare taonga tumu tiriti, kei reira te whakapūmautanga o te katoa ki te Tiriti o Waitangi, ā, ka whakamahia e te Māori te tino rangatiratanga.

About You

">
  • You have meaningful and active relationships with Māori working in and for te taiao and experience engaging with iwi and Māori organisations
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver complex iwi or kaupapa Māori projects
  • Exceptional communication and relationship building skills, including demonstrated experience in consultation and negotiation
  • Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implementation
