Oranga Tamariki is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Services Professional to join our team. As a key member of our organisation, you will play a vital role in ensuring the wellbeing of children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include completing thorough assessments of children, young people, and their families, holding and facilitating meetings, and being involved in planning and delivering interventions. You will work closely with our team to ensure that children and young people receive the best possible support.

  • Completing full assessments on children, young people, and families
  • Holding and facilitating hui, focusing on supporting families to grow their capacity to care for their children and young people
  • Being involved in planning and delivering interventions to maintain children and young people within their families
  • Working alongside partners in our community, non-government organisations, and state sector agencies

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Full registration with New Zealand's Social Work Registration Board (SWRB) or eligible to apply
  • A social worker qualification recognised by the SWRB
  • A full, clean, current driver's licence
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to see past what someone may be struggling with
  • Experience within the child protection sector, preferably within NZ
  • The ability to analyse and prepare social work and other plans
  • Able to demonstrate sound judgement and organisational skills
  • The ability to manage risk and make tough decisions
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt to your audience
  • Great written skills as you will need to write court reports, case notes, and other documents
