About the Role

The Senior Legal Counsel role is responsible for providing high-quality, pragmatic in-house legal advice on health and privacy law to support clinical staff and leaders. This includes advising on investigations by external regulators, attending hearings and other forums, working with Police, assisting with reviews and disputes, and providing training to staff on health and privacy matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing expert legal advice on health and privacy law to support clinical staff and leaders
  • Advising on investigations by external regulators and representing the organization in hearings and other forums
  • Working closely with Police and other stakeholders to resolve disputes and issues
  • Providing training and education to staff on health and privacy matters
  • Collaborating with the legal team to achieve organizational goals and objectives

Requirements

  • At least eight years' broad post-qualification health law experience, possibly in an in-house capacity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
