About the Role

The Canterbury District Health Board's Community Treatment Team is seeking a skilled Mental Health Specialist to join their team. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care and support to individuals with moderate to severe mental health conditions.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and develop recovery plans for clients in collaboration with their family/whanau, primary care, community supports, and inpatient teams.
  • Hold a caseload of clients who you will proactively engage with and support to engage with their treatment and other holistic supports.
  • Develop effective rapport with people who may be mentally unwell or distressed, and provide assessment, development of recovery plans, and liaison with whanau and other carers, NGOs, police, probation, and other services as required.

What You'll Need:

  • A Full Driver's Licence, current APC, and Mental Health Nursing Scope of Practice.
  • Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
  • Experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
