Job Summary:

  • We are seeking an experienced Mental Health System Coordinator to join our team at the Métis Nation of Ontario.
  • This role is responsible for coordinating and developing mental health services for Métis individuals, families, and communities, ensuring seamless integration with existing healthcare systems.
  • The successful candidate will be an integral part of our Community Wellbeing Branch, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to enhance mental health outcomes and promote cultural safety.
  • This is an exciting opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills in a fast-paced environment, driving innovation and collaboration to improve the lives of Métis citizens.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze existing mental health services to identify opportunities for improvement and develop strategic initiatives to address gaps and challenges.
  • Collaborate with Indigenous System Coordinators across Ontario to share best practices and coordinate efforts to enhance mental health services for Indigenous communities.
  • Develop and revise policies, processes, and procedures to ensure alignment with best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Act as a conduit for health system information, facilitating the flow of relevant data and insights to frontline Mental Health and Addiction (MHA) workers for informed decision-making.
  • Liaise with Ontario Health Teams to identify areas for improvement in service pathways, program participant/patient journeys, and coordination between MHA service providers serving Métis communities.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of Métis history, culture, and traditions.
  • Experience working with Indigenous individuals, families, and communities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience with provincial/federal legislation/policies impacting Métis health and wellbeing.
