Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the appointments workstream, collaborating with stakeholders across the public sector and delivering professional secretariat support to advisory groups and governance bodies.

The twin focus of this role will afford the opportunity to influence Maori development and Crown-Maori relations through strategic leadership and operational excellence.

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Maori people and communities.

As a Portfolio Lead, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Crown's relationship with Maori through effective governance, performance oversight and secretariat services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the appointments workstream to ensure the provision of high-quality advice and appointments process-support to assist the Minister for Maori Development when making or recommending appointments to the statutory entities they are responsible for.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the public sector to deliver the role of Te Puni Kokiri as a nominating agency.
  • Deliver professional secretariat support to advisory groups and governance bodies.
Requirements
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and a clear understanding of statutory bodies and other public roles appointments.
  • Proven experience leading appointments or secretariat services or performance monitoring functions.
  • Ability to provide advice to ministers and executive leadership.
  • Understanding of Te Ao Maori, tikanga and the Crown's obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment while managing competing priorities.
