About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Corrections Officer to join our team at Ara Poutama Aotearoa, Department of Corrections. As a Corrections Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the security and wellbeing of individuals serving sentences or on remand.

Key Responsibilities
  • Induct individuals into their unit, assisting them to navigate life in prison
  • Supervise daily routines, promoting a safe and secure environment
  • Act as prosocial role models, contributing to creating positive change and community safety
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate clearly and effectively. You must also operate with high levels of integrity, demonstrating sound problem-solving abilities and critical thinking.

You should be able to work rostered shifts across a 24/7 pattern, including weekends and public holidays. Additionally, you will require a full, clean New Zealand driver licence (or be eligible to obtain one).
