Job Description

We're seeking a highly skilled Fleet Operations Lead to join our team at KiwiRail Freight. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe management of our vehicle fleet.

You will be responsible for managing fleet replacement schedules, conducting vehicle inspections, and overseeing condition audits. Additionally, you will support investigations into fleet-related safety incidents and monitor utilisation to ensure vehicles are deployed efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement fleet replacement strategies to ensure timely delivery of new vehicles
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of vehicle condition, including inspection reports and maintenance histories
  • Collaborate with suppliers to improve service quality and reduce costs
  • Provide technical expertise to support investigations into fleet-related safety incidents

Requirements:

  • 5+ years' experience in fleet management or a related field
  • Knowledge of New Zealand's driver licence laws and road transport regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using asset databases
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other fleet management tools
