We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate individual to join our team as a Tertiary Educator in Māori Culture. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the delivery of our exciting new programme for the Certificate in Māori Governance/Manu Taiko – Toro Parirau.

About the Role

This is a full-time (37.5hrs per week) fixed term position based at our Palmerston North campus. The role involves developing lesson plans, delivering quality lessons to students, responding to student learning needs, and evaluating student progress.

You will play a critical role in inspiring and empowering students to understand and engage with the principles and practices of Māori governance, deeply rooted in tikanga (customs) and kawa (protocols). You will be someone who is passionate about fostering a learning environment that respects and elevates Māori values, encourages critical thinking, and cultivates leadership aligned with the mana (authority) and mātauranga (knowledge) of iwi, hapū, and whānau.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting student success, as well as possess strong communication skills, cultural awareness, and adaptability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality educational programmes underpinned by Māori culture and values.
  • Provide ongoing feedback about the course and be supported to deliver a quality educational experience for our students.
  • Cultivate leadership aligned with the mana (authority) and mātauranga (knowledge) of iwi, hapū, and whānau.
  • Foster a learning environment that respects and elevates Māori values, encourages critical thinking, and promotes student success.
