Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Permissions Treaty Advisor to join our Permissions Team. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert advice on the application of the Treaty of Waitangi principles in the context of public conservation land use and protected wildlife interactions.

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:
  • Providing expert advice on the application of the Treaty of Waitangi principles in the context of public conservation land use and protected wildlife interactions
  • Contribute to the development of operational policy and best practices related to the Treaty of Waitangi
  • Identify training needs and work towards a consistent national approach to train and mentor staff
  • Work closely with Permissions Advisors and decision-makers to process applications efficiently and effectively


The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They will also have a strong understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and its application in conservation contexts, as well as experience working with planning and/or legislative processes.

Requirements

- Strong knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi and its application in conservation contexts
- Experience working with planning and/or legislative processes
- Experience analyzing large amounts of complex information to produce high-quality reports and succinct recommendations
- Ability to manage a busy caseload and prioritize tasks effectively
