Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Ranger. This is a crucial operational role that forms part of a small, close-knit team who maintain historical pa sites, tracks, and amenity areas through a variety of landscapes from forests to picturesque coastal areas.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Undertake tasks for the heritage and visitor programmes
  2. Undertake repairs and maintenance of tracks in both front and back country locations
  3. Carry out planned work to high standard and on time
  4. Contribute to the successful delivery of projects
  5. Work with and support volunteers and community groups, helping them to achieve greater conservation outcomes
  6. Participate in safety briefings and take responsibility for your safety and the safety of your team mates every day
  7. Work alongside other DOC staff, contractors and volunteers and partner with iwi

Requirements

  • A high level of physical fitness and experience in the backcountry
  • Prior experience in volunteer coordination
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with volunteers and stakeholders
  • Ability to work alone, as a team leader, and a team member
  • Strong health and safety focus
  • A full New Zealand driver licence, including the ability to drive a manual vehicle

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $55,684 to $66,578 and a chance to make a lasting impact in preserving Auckland's heritage and visitor sites.
